Well first of the obligatory excuses as to why i have not updated the site in a while as usual it is time factor and also been very busy at work so spending less time on computer at home and also the fact that often in evening trying to find info for stuff at work or numerous other things going around in my head..

EduGeek Conference

The first EduGeek Conference is next Wednesday which involved in help setting up and running things are looking good with chap from BECTA along with talks on Moodle should be fun day…

Also few companies have been kind enough to donate prizes OReilly, Serif, Immersive Education.

Anyway still few places left on it so if interested in getting a day of work then see main page with details at http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=42

Learning Technologies

Been looking to write a paper about Learning Technologies and my views on it mainly as member of ALT (http://www.alt.ac.uk/) one of the special interest groups is the Theory and Learning Technology (http://homepages.unl.ac.uk/%7Ecookj/alt_lt/) and you asked to submit positional paper. So when wrote that or at least got something more than just FreeMind (http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) mind map then will post it here.

Tools

Now for some useful tools come across first up is one just mentioned is FreeMind (http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) . It is mind-mapping software written in Java very good for writing notes, planning databases you name it..

Second is Dia (http://dia-installer.sourceforge.net/ ) very good free alternative to Visio (http://r.office.microsoft.com/r/rlidAppFolder?clid=1033&p1=visio).

Finally is another product similar to Visio called Network Notepad (http://www.networknotepad.com) we are currently using it at work to design our network lay diagrams.
